Free Christmas Novella

Need a heartwarming read for the holidays? For a couple of days, my novella The Christmas Knot is free on Amazon! (Supposedly November 26 through 29, but Amazon's ways are mysterious and I'm not sure exactly when it will end. So if you want a copy for your Kindle, go grab it now.)

The Christmas Knot is a Slightly Gothic Regency Mystery Romance Novella! Quite a mouthful, I know, but it doesn't fit neatly into any one category.

Widowed and destitute, Edwina White takes a position as governess in a remote village in the north of England—in a haunted house. She’s so desperate that she’ll take anything, and besides, she doesn’t believe in ghosts. Little does she know that her new employer is the seducer who lied and deceived her many years ago.

Sir Richard Ballister inherited an estate with a ghost and a curse, and every governess he hires leaves within a week. Finally, a woman desperate enough to stay arrives on his doorstep—but she’s the seductress who dropped him many years earlier for a richer man.

The last thing Richard and Edwina want is to work together, but they have no choice. Can they overcome the bitterness of the past in time to unravel a centuries-old knot and end the Christmas curse?

The Christmas Knot re-release and a #giveaway

Today I'm at Embracing Romance celebrating the re-release of The Christmas Knot (which was formerly part of the boxed set, Captivated By His Kiss). I'm whining about genre confusion and giving away two of my Harlequin Historical Undone novellas to commenters. Please hop on over and join me there!

Short blurb, just because:

It’s bad enough being a governess, but far worse that Edwina White’s new employer is the man who deceived her years before.

Richard Ballister’s estate has a ghost and a curse, but if that’s not trouble enough, the new governess is the woman who spurned him for a richer man.

Can Edwina and Richard overcome a bitter past in time to dispel the curse and save their future?

Desert graffiti and a #giveaway

Please join me over at Embracing Romance today. I've got some nice pics of El Morro, a historic site we visited in New Mexico, and also a bit of a whinge about running out of gas (almost) in the middle of nowhere. And there's a giveaway, because I just love giving away copies of my books.

MUSHROOMS!

We had a lot of rain early this fall, and consequently many, many mushrooms!

Mushroom invasion.... These ones fold up at dusk and are all but invisible, then open up again at dawn.

My Favorite Historical Mysteries

(Above is a castle in Italy. Hmm... A historical romance could easily take place there.)

Today I'm over at Embracing Romance talking about my favorite historical mysteries. I'm recommending series by Lindsey Davis, Ellis Peters, P.F. Chisholm, P.B. Ryan, and Rhys Bowen...but there are tons more great historical mysteries out there, and I'd love to hear about them. Please join me there and tell me about your favorites.

Mr. Darcy! Miss Bennet?! and a #Giveaway

I love the formal manners of the Regency era...but sometimes they can be a bit too much. Today I'm at Collette Cameron's blog discussing formality, with particular reference to how well it's portrayed in the BBC series Pride and Prejudice (yes, the one starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, which I simply can't get enough of, in common with a great many other people).

Also, I'm giving away a copy of To Kiss a Rake (or another of my books--winner's choice). Please come on over, tell me what you like or dislike about formal manners then and now, and you just might win!
