Today I'm at Embracing Romance, whining about going through my old clothes. If you want to give me a virtual slap, now's the time. You also might win a book. And maybe a pair of Moomintroll socks.... So hop on over and comment there.
http://wp.me/p5fbTi-3Jp
It's been a rough spring and summer, and despite having four projects going, I have only finished one novella. It's called The Right to Remain Single, and it will be in the anthology, Christmas Kisses: A Collection of Historical Romances. The release date isn't set yet, but it will be sometime in early October.

Everyday Magic and a #Giveaway
Today I'm at Embracing Romance talking about everyday magic. What exactly is that? I don't really know -- that's why I'm asking. The ghost cat below wants to know, too.
Go on over to Embracing Romance to find out what everyday magic is, or to enlighten me. Because it's May, this month's giveaway is my two May Day Mischief novellas (see below) -- or another of my books, winner's choice.
Barbara
England, 1804
Tired of being paraded before every eligible bachelor, Peony Whistleby decides it's time to find her true love—through the ancient custom of rolling naked in the dew on May Day morning. But the magic goes awry when she is caught in the act—and by an entirely unsuitable man. And yet, the way his eyes linger upon her flesh ignites a sensual craving that can only be satisfied by his touch…
Book one of the May Day Mischief duet.
England, 1804
Lucasta Barnes knows the folly believing in magic can lead to—and she won't accept that her illicit tryst with a notorious rake was the result of anything more than pure lust. Or that it has bonded them together forever. Yet, she can't deny that she yearns for just one more night in his arms…
David, Earl of Elderwood, is used to women being enchanted by him, but ever since a passionate encounter with Lucasta three years ago, he desires only her. How can he convince his thoroughly practical paramour that love is the greatest magic of all?
Book two of the May Day Mischief duet.

Cool Historical Stuff and a #Giveaway
Today I'm over at Embracing Romance talking about how I love learning new things from reading novels--and how I like to put stuff I find interesting in the books I write. And there's a giveaway.
Hop on over and comment for a chance to win a free book.

These are Roman fibulae -- brooches for fastening garments. I took this picture at the British Museum, I think, several years ago. I don't remember whether I put one of these in a book yet, but I will sooner or later.
And this is a bunch of Roman coins. Imagine finding a hoard like this in one's back garden, and wondering about the soldier who buried them there hundreds and hundreds of years ago. I really love it when I learn about this kind of thing in fiction--history come alive!

Late St. Patrick's Day #Giveaway
Today I'm at Embracing Romance celebrating St. Patrick's Day (it's never too late to celebrate) by recommending some books relating to Ireland, and giving one away.
Do come on over and recommend some, too!
And on April Fool's Day, Lord Quickthorn's Bargain, a magical Regency novella, will be available for sale. It's up for pre-order now.
It was originally published in the Passionate Promises anthology (which is no longer available), but now it's up on its own at Amazon and Kobo, and will be on Barnes and Noble, too, if I remember to go in and activate it there on April 1st.

Prejudices of Yesteryear and a #Giveaway
I'm over at Embracing Romance today talking about the difficulties of writing
a romantic heroine who has the prejudices of the era in which she
lives, but also appeals to modern readers.
There's a giveaway, just because. Hop on over and comment for a chance to win. http://wp.me/p5fbTi-3mJ

This pic has nothing to do with the blog at Embracing Romance. It's what happens when you spray trees with water just before a very hard freeze. Which may seem kooky, but we hardly ever get any snow or ice here in Atlanta, so this kept the illusion of winter for a couple of extra days.

Two Christmas multi-author collections and a #giveaway
Hi! Today I'm over at Embracing Romance to talk about two super collections of Christmas stories-- Once Upon A Historical Christmas and A Very Wicked Christmas. At only 99 cents each, they're obviously great deals.
I'm also giving away a gorgeous PAPERBACK of A Very Wicked Christmas, so hop on over to Embracing Romance for a chance to win.
Here are all the blurbs for Once Upon a Historical Christmas. It's already available, and you can check it out here. (Later, I'll do the same for A Very Wicked Christmas, which is up for pre-order and releases October 18.)
Once Upon a Historical Christmas includes:
A KNIGHT’S CHRISTMAS WISH by Lana Williams –
A knight’s Christmas wish is fulfilled in an unexpected way when he meets a lady in need of rescue.
WISH UPON A WINTER SOLSTICE by Emma Prince –
Deep in the Scottish Highlands sits an ancient well fabled to grant true-love’s wish to those who visit it near the winter solstice. To test the powers of the legendary well, Keita Cameron trespasses onto the lands of her clan’s enemy. She never expects to come face to face with the man they call the Demon of Loch Moy—or succumb to the dark heat her captor stirs within her.
MISTLETOE MAGIC by Laurel O’Donnell –
A confident knight arrives home to find his childhood friend grown into much more then he remembered. The lady of the castle keeps a dangerous secret that threatens all she holds dear. Will Mistletoe Magic save them?
THE CHRISTMAS KNOT by Barbara Monajem –
It’s bad enough being a governess, but far worse that Edwina White’s new employer is the man who deceived her years before.
Richard Ballister’s estate has a ghost and a curse, and if that’s not trouble enough, the new governess is the woman who spurned him for a richer man.
Richard and Edwina don't want to work together, but they have no choice. Can they overcome the bitterness of the past in time to unravel a centuries-old knot and end the Christmas curse?
THE WOLF OF SKYE by Hildie McQueen –
Fate's wicked sense of humor strikes Highland guard Faolan Mackinnon when he ends up betrothed to Catriona Grant, a fiery lass, who he met only minutes earlier.
A heartbroken Highland guard's last desperate attempt to regain the woman he loves becomes a journey across Scotland to a mysterious well that grants wishes. However upon getting to know a beautiful lass in the village of Moy, Faolan Mackinnon questions his true feelings.
A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE by Amanda McCabe –
Spend the holidays in Regency England! Seeking an heir to her fortune, a widow challenges her family to a wild holiday scavenger hunt in the novella "A Partridge in a Pear Tree"--and two people find a lasting love seeking the Twelve Days of Christmas...
WILD HIGHLAND MISTLETOE by Eliza Knight –
A week before Christmas, snow falls gently on the Highland hills, and once more an adventure awaits the Sutherlands! Dunrobin Castle is overflowing with excitement and holiday spirit because of the upcoming Sutherland clan gathering. Arbella and Magnus’ marriage has flourished, their passion and love growing stronger daily. But when a mysterious missive arrives begging Laird and Lady Sutherland for help in a rescue mission, they leave the safety of the castle, and ride headlong into a trap. Will they thwart their enemy and make it home in time to celebrate the holiday season in good Scottish fashion? Or will warring clans prevail? ***This is a Stolen Bride novella--an extension of THE HIGHLANDER'S REWARD***
A KNIGHT TO REMEMBER by Catherine Kean –
Kissing Lord Renfred de Vornay, her late brother’s best friend, under the mistletoe was the last thing Lady Liliana Thornleigh ever expected days before Christmas. Seven years have passed since Ren played his foolish prank on her, but she hasn’t forgotten that humiliating incident—and neither, it seems, has he. Now a wealthy and respected lord, Ren has important information for her father, but Liliana is suspicious of Ren’s reasons for spending Christmas at her sire’s castle. As dangerous secrets come to light, will her hatred of Ren intensify, or will she finally put the past behind her and accept Ren’s love?
Enjoy!

Weepy heroines and a #giveaway on Embracing Romance
I'm on Embracing Romance today talking about weepy heroines (and confessing my own earlier tendency to cry for hours). I'm giving away a copy of Rakes and Rogues (or another of my books, winner's choice) to one lucky commenter.
http://www.embracingromance.com/weepy-heroines-a…-barbara-monajem/
Do please drop by and weigh in with your opinion on whether romantic heroines should be allowed to cry -- and if so, how much.

Comfort Reads and a #Giveaway
I should stop apologizing for posting so seldom. It must be obvious by now that I'm not meant to be a blogger. But while I wasn't blogging, I did finish two stories -- a novella and a full-length historical romance. The novella will be in a Christmas boxed set, and the full-length is with my beta-reader now.
Anyway...today I'm blogging at Embracing Romance about comfort reads, and I'm doing a giveaway. (I like doing one every month.) So hop on over and tell me about your comfort reads, and maybe you'll win a copy of Rakes and Rogues, or a substitute if you already have it.
